[5 day THEMED pack]

Looking for something fun for your kiddos to do this week?
Something still focused on the CORE, but perhaps in a little different format?

Each of 5 days has a daily review (writing conventions, 3 addend story problems, counting sequence, and spelling practice) along with a fun activity to run on the back (word search, word builder, design a trap, feed the leprechauns, write a persuasive letter).

The cost is only $2.50!

I'll send a FULL set of this awesome 5 day pack to the first person to respond with a comment about why you either LOVE or HATE St. Patrick's Day.  :)
(Don't forget to leave your e-mail!).
I'm heading to bed, so don't expect this until early morning unless you're super speedy and catch me before I log off!

{lucky}

Every year I am convinced I have the best little class.
I really, truly, adore my kiddos, and I want them to know that I really, truly adore them.
I also want them to know that I notice the great things they do on a daily basis - things such as cleaning up without being asked, being a good friend, sharing, helping, consistently following the rules, or solving a problem.

For many years I have made a habit of sending little notes in the mail just to let these precious little munchkins know that I notice the good things they do.  My opinion is that it's also very valuable for the parents to hear these good things about their children.  I try to make a habit of recognizing each child verbally in the classroom when they do something great, so these little notes are just the icing on the cake.

Now, those of you that know me, know that I can't just send these notes scribbled on a piece of paper torn from a notebook, lol, so I create a set of note cards, print enough on heavyweight cardstock for each child in my class, attach address labels to the backs, and really watch for great things that are happening in my classroom.  As soon as I notice something great, I grab that student's card from the pile, jot a quick note, and pop the card in the mail.  When those notes are gone (usually in less than a month!), I can create a new set, knowing that I have shared a postitive happy moment with each child in my class.  I KNOW that the kids LOVE to get these!

As an added bonus, this really gets me watching for/finding the good in my students.  I find I'm a lot more patient/loving/understanding/positive when my focus is finding good.

Here is this month's set:
Clip art is courtesy of http://www.djinkers.com/ and the other design elements are from a free download (Happy Holidays 1) courtesy of http://www.sproutingseedsstudio.com/ .
Image is linked for you to download and use if you'd like.
I guarantee your kiddos (AND their parents!) will love receiving a note from you!
I can't wait to start using these!

Please remember to play fair.
Don't take credit for the design or elements.
DO take credit for nurturing positiveness in your classroom!  :)
And. . .comments are always welcome.
Happy March!

{Leprechaun and Cat in the Hat non-standard measurement}

In our class, we will be starting our Measurement math topic on Thursday.
I've been working a little bit on this during centers the past couple of days and have come up with a few quick work pages that the kids have really enjoyed.

The leprechaun page has less measurement practice and is good for a beginning sheet.  I added the straight line for students to measure against, creating a more successful experience.

The image is linked to the download.

Since tomorrow is Dr. Seuss day, I figured a Cat in the Hat page would be appropriate.
(The large dark bar is there on purpose - I have found that it's less frustrating for the kiddos to measure against a straight line than an image).
I added some additional units of measurement to this one as the kids were zipping through the other pages and needed a bit of a challenge.  :)

If you can use it, the image is linked to the download.

I will be adding more non-standard measurement pages over the course of this topic.
Feedback and comments are very much appreciated!

{Absolutely Incredible Kid Day}

Absolutely INCREDIBLE Kid Day!
(Click to find out more about Absolutely Incredible Kid Day!)

I LOVE to celebrate this day with my kiddos!
I'll be adding activities for Incredible Kid Day over the next couple of weeks in preparation for this day (which happens to fall on March 17th this year).
Here are a couple of vocabulary/writing activities that I am going to use.

(Just for clarification, the student's name goes on the bottom line so, for example, if the student's name were Beth, the amazing page would end with Amazing Beth).

We used the amazing one yesterday.
LOVED listening to the kids talk about ways that they were amazing!
I'll share some of those soon!

For now, here are the pages, images are linked to the download. :)
If you find these useful and download them, please leave a comment.
Thanks!
