Our EOL assessment is rapidly approaching.
I'm bumping up the Brain Busters Challenges from 3 a week to 5.
I usually run these with a math fact fluency timing on the back (either from Otter Creek, Dad's Worksheets, or Math-Drills).
We start our day with our Reading and Handwriting Fluency sheets
(these are making a HUGE difference!!) and go right into the math fact drill, then straight to reading groups. After reading groups, it's Brain Buster Challenge time! While I quickly score and tally the Brain Buster results, my littles are working on the Daily Review/Spelling Review sheets.
That takes us through 10:30. We go right into our math lesson and work on math until 11:30. At 11:30 we work on our writing projects/lessons and head to lunch at 11:50. Our mornings go really fast and are really structured.
Are you loving the Brain Busters? Want to keep seeing them?
Leave me a quick note and let me know.
Have a great week!
Can I have your first graders next year in my class?
ReplyDeleteThese brain busters would be so perfect to have them really ready for 2nd. I wish I could use them more myself, but I don't know how you don't have a thousand 1st grade teachers waiting for every new installment :) They are wonderful!

Love them! Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI took a little blogging break for the past month, and it looks like I missed the beginning Brain Buster posts. I'm catching up now! These look great! They are perfect for an end of the year review. I'm planning to copy the first ones tomorrow. I think if I start soon my kids will still be able to get 50 right before the last day of school (in 17 days). Love the owl cards. I'm about to purchase those. Thanks for all of your hard work creating everything-- and for sharing it for free.

Thanks so much for the Brain Busters! I would love to know more about the Reading Handwriting fluency & also the daily review. Your morning schedule sounds like mine but would to love to add the Brain Busters, Daily review & the Reading & Handwriting fluency.
ReplyDeleteI need to get more organized over the summer for next year. Hope we can chat. We've emailed before but here goes again. jackie@acsnet.com
