And I'm working on materials for the first 2 weeks of school.
What's wrong with me?! lol.
We have adopted Go Math in first grade for the upcoming school year.
Go Math is incredible! Totally common core based. Awesome!
But. . .chapter 1 is addition concepts.
Yikes! We've built into our pacing guide 10 days for numeracy right at the start of the year. I'm really excited about this Lucy Ladybug pack!
It's going to be a fun exploration of numbers 1-10 for the first 10 days of school.
Lucy Ladybug deals with one "number" each day (days 1-10).
Writing the number, reading the number word, determining even or odd, representing on a ten frame, simple model drawing (adding 1), and then the ways to create an addition equation with 2 addends and a sum of the "number of the day."

I love this and I am so excited to know what to plan for math those first 10 days. It looks so cute. Here is my back to school tip...when I am preparing my students supplies, I prepare a few extra and put them in a gallon baggie for when I get a new student. Then I have a new students supplies all together and ready to go.
ReplyDeleteMy best back to school tip is organization, organization, organization. It is time consuming to start with, but certainly pays off by October.
ReplyDeleteI really love this. What a great idea for the first ten days of school. My "Back to school" organizational tip wouild be -set out bins labeled with the supplies that you requested for the year. As students come in have them take the supplies and place them in the apprioprate bin. Now after Open House/Meet and Greet all you have to do is put bins away!!!

Since our school always has tons of kids moving in and out, I would make several sets of new student materials so that it wasn't stressful when a new face walked in to class!

I also do this at the end of the school year

Back to school tip - I always go in a couple of weeks early and get my room all ready. That way I'm not sweatin' it the day before school starts because I didn't get something done! :o)
