[Mathematics Brain Busters] v6 [5 pack!]
Our EOL assessment is rapidly approaching.
I'm bumping up the Brain Busters Challenges from 3 a week to 5.
I usually run these with a math fact fluency timing on the back (either from Otter Creek, Dad's Worksheets, or Math-Drills).
We start our day with our Reading and Handwriting Fluency sheets
(these are making a HUGE difference!!) and go right into the math fact drill, then straight to reading groups. After reading groups, it's Brain Buster Challenge time! While I quickly score and tally the Brain Buster results, my littles are working on the Daily Review/Spelling Review sheets.
That takes us through 10:30. We go right into our math lesson and work on math until 11:30. At 11:30 we work on our writing projects/lessons and head to lunch at 11:50. Our mornings go really fast and are really structured.
Are you loving the Brain Busters? Want to keep seeing them?
Leave me a quick note and let me know.
Have a great week!

[Whooooooo ROCKED the Brain Busters Challenge]
I finally decided that for my littles that hit 50 points in the Brain Busters Challenge, I'd give them a package of Pop Rocks (who doesn't love pop rocks?!) and this little card with their name in big letters in that open space along with a quick class celebration of awesomeness. . .
I have a few that will be getting them today. :)
If you'd like a copy of the cards, they're available at Teacher's Notebook for $1.

The Brain Busters have all been free downloads. If you've been using them and tracking the points, wouldn't you at please consider purchasing the cards to celebrate your kiddos' accomplishments in math? Thanks!
Happy Friday!!

[Mathematics Brain Busters] v5
I really have no idea where the time went this week.
No idea at all.
Friday was a great day at school but a very stressful day at our district PLC.
I must say how grateful I am for the support I received not only from district personnel, but from many of my first grade colleagues. It wasn't an easy PLC to be in charge of, that's for sure, but having such an awesome support system really made a big difference.
I did, however, end the day with a migraine, a killer stomachache, and an 8:30 bedtime, lol. I felt MUCH better Saturday morning!
We've had a fantastic weekend as a family! Daily bike rides averaging between 4 1/2 and 5 miles, lots of just hanging out, and some fun meals together. I love love love my family and am grateful for this weekend to recover from life and just enjoy being together!
This week is going to be an interesting week at school. Tomorrow we have a "Friday" schedule. First grade has a field trip and a spring room parent party. Add reading groups and lunch into that, and you have our day. Easy sneezy lemon peasy and awfully fun to boot! Tuesday is a scheduled "furlough" day - we generally do parent teacher conferences on those days, but we've already done ours, so Tuesday is a day off. Can I just tell you how great that is going to be?! Wednesday-Friday is life as normal. Might be a little high maintenance after such a crazy start to the week, but that's okay.
I know I said that this week's brain busters would have graphing and fractions, but guess what?! My littles don't need much practice on that, so I'm pulling the things that they struggled with the most on our EOL assessment for the brain busters. :)
There are some tough questions on the EOL and we need some practice with much of the content. Because these are created specifically for our district, they'll contain that material. That's just how it has to be.
How grateful I am for every little thank you left for these. I'm so glad that they are working in your classrooms! My littles LOVE brain buster time and are getting really quite good at the skills we have been practicing.
The images are linked to the pdf download containing this week's pages.
Have a great rest of the day. . .I'm off to finish making dinner with Little Miss while the boys are at scout camp planning meeting. Did I mention what a great weekend this has been?!

[Mathematics Brain Busters] v4
I'd love to stay and chat this morning, but my to do list is about 14 miles long and only getting longer. Off to make breakfast for Little Miss and get us ready for school. Already made breakfast for The Bubs, packed his lunch, and sent him off for school. Our mornings are so crazy.
Hope you had a great weekend!
Ours was absolutely perfect in every way.
Ours was absolutely perfect in every way.
Well, every way except is was just too short! ;)
Here's set 4 of the Mathematics Brain Busters.
It sure is fun to hear how many teachers are using these either now in first grade or saving them for a review to start 2nd grade in the fall! I'm glad they're helpful!
I know that my littles are making progress each week and that makes me smile!
Next week's set will include some graphing and fractions.
I'm seriously hoping that my littles are in better moods than they were last week.
Wow was that ever a week to forget, lol.

Please say thanks if you take these.
You know that's what you'd expect from your students, and those comments really go a long way in making me want to continue to offer these free!
Have a great week!

[Mathematics Brain Busters] part 3
My littles are loving the challenge of these Brain Busters.
I'm loving that in 7 problems a day, 3 days a week, they're getting a good solid review of math concepts covered on our end of level assessment.
Win. Win. Right?
Here's installment 3.
We're working on our class to hit 50 points for a fun surprise.
I'd better be figuring that surprise out pretty quick, because a few of my littles are awfully close to 50 points already!!
The image is linked.
It takes me between 20 and 30 minutes to do each set.
Could you take 2 minutes to leave a note of thanks if you take these please?
I'd like to know that they are being used and enjoyed.
We're on day 2 after Spring Break.
I think we might need to have some serious quiet time this afternoon!!
Have a great day!

[Brain Busters] round 2 - link fixed - I hope!!!
I apologize for the limited post.
I've had a little sickie stuck to my side for the past 2 days.
She's still not feeling great. :(
Hoping the meds kick in so she can go to school tomorrow.
Here's round 2 of the Brain Busters.
I hope you can use these in your classroom.
I *think* these are accessible for everyone from dropbox now.
Sorry for the trouble. This is a new operating system for me and running on limited sleep I totally have no idea what I'm doing.
If this link doesn't work for you, PLEASE leave a comment with your e-mail and I'll send the file to you. :)
